Sync of 42m yet BT Guarantee 60m
« on: March 30, 2017, 07:39:51 PM »

Hi

Im with Uno and just gone live a few days ago. I put my number in the BT website and it said they could guarantee me a minimum of 60mbps. I currently have a down sync of 42mbps with interleaving as my line is very noisy and has an Openreach advisory on it.

How can BT offer this speed are they deploying vectoring with their setup? I would love to swap to BT and see if they can get me 60m but I have signed a years contract.

Any ideas?

End of the day the copper between your house and the cab is the same wether  you are bt or uno
.. as I said your attentuation is more than 300m from the cab based on your current stats. Changing provider will probably make no difference due to the same cable from your house

It is about 150m as the crow flies. I suspect a firmware bug on MDWS data as US says 0db. Webgui says 14.7db DS which is a better figure.

I have a suspect dropwire underground GW3 which was put in in the 80s wonder if that could be causing my low sync?

If it is not twisted pair then yes absolutely... Hope UNO will call an engineer for that.

Once G.INP becomes live on you circuit you should gain another 6-7 Mbps that should take the downstream sync rate upto 48000 kbps and your DS attainable is 19.9dB and never use the distance as the crow flies to cabinet as there could be an extra 400 meters of D-Side cable before it reaches your premises.

I dont think its twisted pair its about 30m long and is a figure 8 kind of cable. Here is a pic https://ibb.co/f7e21F.

Uno want an SFI Engineer to attend as Openreach have said there is noise impulse at my property between 0600 and 0945 weekdays.

I know the cable router as I have stood by loads of engineers swapping my pair. How long does G.Inp take to kick in?

I can say G.INP will do a great job on that Impulse Noise as that's what it does (Impulse Noise Protection) INP

anywhere from 8 days to 3 months just need to know the date your line became active with UNO

So what does your modem report as the DS attenuation? A screen dump would be useful

That is the wrong type of cable for an underground service feed and needs to be replaced. Until it has been done any other attempted remedial tasks will be pointless.

Your looking at around the 7th of April for G.INP to kick in if you already had G.INP with previous FTTC ISP provider.
