ATM Errors
« on: October 28, 2006, 09:10:16 AM »

Can anyone shed any light on what these errors mean and where they originate from ?

ATM Cell Header Errors:
ATM Loss of Cell Delineation:

I am getting a couple of both over a 24hr period, but my inet seems to be rock stable, The bt business hub is one hell of a router, I mean it has everything in it and I came across this type of error which non of my other routers have listed in their error pages and I was wondering if anyone can shed any light on them 2 particular errors.

cheers

If you Google for those terms you'll get a lot of information, most of which is over my head. But I think the first item is what other routers call HEC (Header error control) errors.

I did google, and as you say, alot of the info is complicated and above one's head, thats why I posted asking if anyone knew what they meant, as the info I got off of google didnt really tell me anything.

afaik.. theres no quick and easy explanation of CRC/HEC errors in one place but the following links are the ones that  normally direct people too when they ask.

The CRC-based framing link probably has the best info to give basic understanding.

HEC http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Header_Error_Correction
FEC http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forward_error_correction
CRC http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CRC-based_framing
