I wonder if Apple would allow anyone to write a VM for the iPad, so you could run an o/s built for a recent Intel x64 processor-based PC in it? Then I could play with *nix or even Win 10 in it. They perhaps don't have enough RAM for something like Win10. But BSD or Linux might be more practical as a guest.
