Archer VR200 low sync
« on: March 22, 2017, 09:33:16 PM »

Hi all,

I got a new router yesterday and I first noticed the speed dropped to 51000kbs from the home hubs 56000kbs, so then I got home from work this evening and found that it was syncing at 49000kbs out of a max of 48900kbs.. Will this stabilise or will it continue to drop

New router - TP Link Archer VR200
Old router - Home hub 5

Thanks for any replies or if I've forgot to add something let me know

Hi

As far as the new router is concerned there is nothing to stabilise, it will always try and sync at the fastest speed allowed.  It is quite likely it just isn't as good as the one before it on your line.  Do you have the stats before and after?

But from what I have read the chipset prefers the ECI cab and mine is a Huawei cab

Is the Home Hub 5 the A or B type? The Home Hub 5A has the same Lantiq chipset as the VR200.

Even with the same chipset, different devices will still have different performance, which could be due to different firmware, or the general design and build quality of the hardware.
