modern hardware and windows 7
« on: January 24, 2017, 07:14:26 AM »

Remember we have discussed previously that Microsoft will not officially support sky lake on anything but Windows 10.  I predicted other vendors will still support it.

Gigabyte have made a tool to allow Windows 7 to be installed on a 170 or 270 series chipset.

The issue is not the cpu in this case but the chipset itself in recognising the usb i/o storage.

Yeah, My new build Has a Z170 board and skylake CPU running win7 sp1 on it , and it's the lack of  support for usb3 drivers in win7 that is the cause of the problems , win8.1 should install fine as this ships with usb3 support
