RAMdisks seem to cause a few small issues here and there, something happened earlier which I thought may be related, cant remember what it was (my memory is terrible - opening links from programs i think) but i have just used VirusTotal Uploader and its not opening the browser to show results

Using RAMdisk/qsoft, I wonder why some are faster than Chrysalis whilst others are slower???

It didn't make a lot of difference with the AV turned off.

in my tests I didnt disable any software, chrome etc. all was still running in background you can even see usage reported on my R: which is temporary internet files.  AV is nod32.

Regarding the power profiles its a custom setup, by default the balanced windows profile will still run intel turbo clocks but I customised my balance to not to.

me too, I had Firefox with 10 tabs open and 9 programs in the tray running, i did disable Avira's Real-Time Shield for the tests though (and windows defender was off)

couldnt get a qSoft or PerfectSoft too work for me, not properly anyway - back to datarams RAMdisk which is excellent, best of the lot that ive seen....just the free version is limited to 1Gb :(

I want it to be able to load image and save image on startup and shutdown respectiveley even though i use Hibs... also Hibs seems more like sleep, theres no glowing light but the LED on my mouse is still on and USB is charging my fone when its in Hibernate, I thought the system (RAM n CPU where completely off?), when i start it up its like coming out of a sleep...it certainly doesnt saying "waking" (or whatever it used to say on windows when coming out of Hibs)

I dont reload my ram disk contents on boot, one reason is that its good for security, making sure temporary browser files are not on persistent storage.

AHH AM GUTTED! :(

since messing about with these ramDISKs its messed up my RAMdisk config some how, Firefox is working fine, but chrome seems to create a default/cache folders with loads of F files in there that add up to 26Mb and never change and Ccleaner shows that its still going to the SSD

...anyway asides that (will just have to use firefox for now until i can solve it)  I have ran the Chipset Updater Utility and it says their is an INF chipset update available (this is the driver that channels the data from the SSD across the mobo etc)

I will update it later and re-run the AS SSD test  and post results - i might look for older/modded versions too when i get the time

still similar to the last result but at least its above 1000...Samsung Magician reports similar results too, the 4K write started at 90MB/s for about 5 seconds then started to dip...thats the 1Gb SLC cache running out and it having to dump to disk, finishing at 68MB/s was good, but thr 4K-64Thd write test was poor starting at just 5MB/s and slowly rising, rather than starting really fast and dipping..again full cache and running at TLC speeds

still a teeny weeny concerned about the read latency at 0.110ms when it used to be 0.039ms, thats an increase of 300% (3 times slower)

@Snadge Just posting results of my new (install and bench on same day same) Samsung 850evo.
My system
M/B Intel DH67cl
Intel Core i3-2100 CPU @ 3.10GHz, 3100 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
16Gb G Skill DDR3 ram
Intel 535 (240Gb) ssd - Windows 7
Samsung 850 evo (240Gb) - Windows 10 pro
+2.5Tb storage on 2 spinning disks
Gigabyte Nvidia 960 4Gb graphics card
Corsair TX650 power supply
I use Intel RSTe Drivers

Benchmark fever forced me to buy replacement for my old ssd... OCZ Agility 3 240Gb has lost over half it's read/write speed :( controller chip (SandForce SF-2281) must on it's way out
and at 5yrs old it's due for retirement.

Ive managed to find 3D-NAND 850 EVO and PRO results... in a nutshell 3D NAND doubles endurance compared to 2D PLANAR (a far cry from Samsungs ten times figure)

basically:
a TLC 3D NAND drive (EVO) is good for around 2,000 P/E cycles (a 250GB drive should last on average 23 years writing at 20GB per day)
an MLC 3D NAND drive (PRO) is good for around 6,000 P/E cycles (a 250GB drive should last on average 70 years at 20GB writes per day)
Lifespan with 20GiB of Host Writes per Day with 1.5x Write Amplification

to roughly work out the life span for an EVO drive, simply DOUBLE the total capacity and change it from GB to TB and thats its ballpark lifespan
to roughly work out the life span for a PRO drive, simply times the total capacity by 6 and change it from GB to TB and thats its ballpark lifespan

over the past 2 years my AVERAGE use has been 45.45GB a day... but ive been using HIBERNATE havent I & streaming through the C:\Drive...even when i was sleeping the PC it still writes to the HIBS file (8Gb) for Hybrid Sleep - so ive disabled it, got Opera Portable installed in and running from a 1GB Ram Drive and my usage is now circa 7-15GB a day, some virus scanners such as Kaspersky like to dump a ton of writes when scanning too.. I only observed this in Kaspersky where near the end of its scan it started to dump over 10GB of writes in less than a minute so I cancelled it!

SSD LIFE is a good tool for monitoring your daily usage for a bit and grab your SMART statistics too...check the WEAR LEVELLING COUNT - the VALUE is the life left in percentage..so it starts at 100...mine after 33TB over 2 years is now 93% - the RAW VALUE is the total P/E cycles... mines 139, this means of the ballpark 2,000 for a TLC drive ive used 139 - this means on average, all the cells on the drive have been written too 139 times (ive filled the drive 139 times over)

I think it is more than double, but they set the firmware conservatively.
