DMT Tool for DG834?
« on: October 23, 2006, 05:13:30 PM »

I've seen talk of people using a "DMT Tool" for doing stuff with their router.
Would someone please explain what the DMT Tool is, can it be used with the Netgear DG834, and if so, what benefits are there to using it?
I've located the website but it's in German and Google does not translate everything very well.
Edit, if it works with the DG834, tips welcome!
Thanks.

I believe it doesnt work with the DG834(g) v1 and v2 Im afraid.  :(

However, I understand that the DG834v3 uses the broadcom chipset... and therefore there is a possibility that it may work if you have this router.
When I found that the DMT tool had now been adapted to work with broadcom based routers I decided to give it a go.. and it does indeed work with mine (Voyager 2100).

Thanks for that info. I've got a v2. I wanted a v3 (ADSL2 capable) but it was not available when I bought this one earlier in the year. I have got a Speedtouch 630 (gave some probs as it started to drop connection) but I'll sitck with the Netgear now.
I suppose the DMT people may modify their prgram toinclude the DG834 at sometime.  :hmm:

I don't think they will. It depends on what chipset the router uses, and what features are offered by the command line interface. The DG834 v1/v2 don't have the necessary CLI features.
