One point worth considering. In a non G.inp situation BCM devices do appear in general to perform better on ECI cabs. However when G.inp was initially rolled out to ECI last March/April, most people, including myself, saw this situation completely reversed with Lantiq based modems holding a distinct advantage.

is my noise margin likely to decrease over the 10 days DLM? - its currently 15db but ive seen others on 6db etc...or is this indicative of a high FTTC take up at my street (crosstalk)? seems way it stands im going to get circa 65Mbps on 80/20

There is no ten day training period.

The DLM process will start actively monitoring the circuit -- and making adjustments, if adjustments are deemed necessary -- from the second day after service deployment. The DLM process then continues to monitor -- and adjust -- the circuit from that day onwards.

I think you said that you were currently on 40/2.   The 15dB will be because your line has far more speed available than the 40Mbps which its currently capped at.
Most lines will sync at 6dB at the highest speed they can.

-----
PS a very rough guide.
If you are currently syncing at 40Mbps, with a 9dB surplus (15-6) then you have approx 18Mbps of spare speed.

One thought occurs, 40/2 -> 80/20 will be seen by DLM as a regrade and not a new provision.

It may not therefore go on to open profile.   If it was a Huawei cab then the line would get one of the automated resets which places the line on interleave by default first.

Im not quite sure what is happening on the ECI's. Its pot luck if it gets a full reset of DLM to open or if its a default DLM reset as described by Ian Lawrence.   It will be interesting to see.
