Quote
I lost sync twice
My sync speed almost doubled from 4.8Mbps to 8.089Mbps
My SNR has varied by just 0.5db

Sorry... Im not sure if I follow that really..
Loss of Sync normally follows a decline of SNR Margin - unless theres a very short sharp spike that knocks out the connection.
For variation in speeds from 4.8 to 8 Mbps then there must have been an increase in SNRM or else the router wouldn't have been able to sync at the higher speed..  :-\

Kitz, don't forget, the SNR displayed in the router wouldn't really vary at all. The SNR at 4Mb must have improved, therefore the router can now sync at 8Mb, thus bringing the SNR back down to pretty much the same as before.

J.Man, SNR on rate adaptive DSL is irrelevant when comparing stats below 8Mb (on normal ADSL). The whole idea is that the router syncs at the fastest possible value whilst maintaining the SNR at x dB.

Yes - but during that period before the 8Mb resync and after the 4Mb sync.. the SNR must have been higher and/or climbing... or else it wouldnt have been able to sync at the higher speed.

Ah yes, I see what you mean now. Ok this is pure speculation here, but perhaps a mysterious problem in a cab somewhere was sorted, perhaps a bad joint or something? And that caused a resync, but because the line quality was now better, it synced at 8Mb straight away?

Lol - we could guess all day :D
