There's been one of these on my local pole for about 1.5 - 2 years now, far as i know nothing has been done, but as above the note is so old / faded / washed out it's impossible to tell what it once said.

There's quite a bit of stuff the A1024 label will cover ......... defective stay-wires, steps, block & tail, removal of blue-beans, low wires ........ the actual defect may have been resolved and the label left attached. It matters not really, as the A1024 data-base will have all the relevant details of what has been done and what needs doing. A phone call to them (OR staff only), reveals all.

It's about as exciting as mud.  ;) :)

Work has started to-day they have a digger digging a trench from edge of road to distribution pole and laying down a grey duct, the original cable is buried under a long stretch of hedging something called armor cable, anyway they are going to leave that underground and use the new duct for the replacement cable.

So far so good.

I suspect that the more difficult part will be crossing the road to the carriageway joint box. Certainly, the route from the foot of the pole as far as the required roadway crossing would be a simple, less than one-day, job.

Please continue to provide the progress reports.

Ah, now that is interesting. Perhaps you could take a look at the markings on the cover of the foot-way box? (Your red making in the image.)

I wasn't expecting you to go out and look this evening . . . but thank you for doing so. Both pictures show good news.  :)

No matter how I tried, I could not get the Google Street View car to stop in the right place to give me a good view of the pavement joint box!

Once all the physical construction work has been signed off, it will be a case of pulling in a new tail cable and making connections at both ends.

Well this one looks like he's ready to climb the Alps, Block and Tail renewal completed and the workmanship is top class you can't even see the trench even the grass sods were put back in place,
SNRM seems to be holding steadyish for the evening still a few more hours to come.

With two polish KN engineers and 2 hours all done the tail cable is terminated at the foot-way box BC never noticed the cover until last night.

Let's hope that signals the end of the problems which you have experienced over the last few years.  :)
