NHS IT bod sends test email to 850k users
« on: November 15, 2016, 09:43:06 AM »

Quote
A test email sent by accident to 850,000 NHS workers has caused utter chaos after being sent from an apparently incorrectly configured* email distribution list.

To further compound the problem various users used the Reply All option to ask to be removed from the list!

Full story on The Register

I wouldn't like to be the person who sent that email.

If the original mail was an obvious 'test' message, that required some kind of admin privilege to create, then not too much to feel bad about.

It's the ones who were hitting 'reply to all' that may merit more criticism in my view.   I wonder if any of the 'reply to all' senders requested delivery reports or read receipts?   ::)

Indeed so. In my experience many people using computer applications in the workplace have very scant knowledge of how to use said applications. Lack of regular training being a key issue.
