Back to monitoring my line, problems again!
« on: October 20, 2016, 12:33:04 PM »

Hello everyone,

My line appears to have been hit once again, Interleaving depth increased from 1 - 1509 on downstream.

And sync rate has dropped from max to 77065 kbps.

No idea what's happened, only thing I can think of is my son pulled the power cable a few days ago but I doubt that could cause interleave?

My pings have been as low as 9ms for months. And my connection has been rock solid. Can anyone take a look and tell me what you think?

I'm uploading to dslwebstats again. Username: JoshShep

Cheers!

I doubt one power cycle would cause an issue.
Looks like something happened on your line to cause a blast of errors so the DLM caused a resync to introduce interleaving and reduced sync to try and control it. This could have been any number of things but your stats only start from today so it's impossible to say exactly what.
Do you have any locally collected stats covering the period that the change occurred? That might give some clues.
Also, do you know if G.INP was active on your line before the resync? In theory that should have helped if you had a burst of errors.
As a snapshot your stats look ok to my untrained eye so given time you should get back up to where you were before.
Perhaps someone more expert that me can see something different though.

Thanks for the response. I thought that also. Hope it settles back down. Just thought someone a little more clued up on the matter might know what's going on.

Unfortunately I don't have the stats available, as I only really monitor when the connecton turns sour. I'll keep my eye on things for a few days and see if it improves.

It look a few hours over 20 days for my line to recover, back on fastpath now with max sync. I knew it would, but why does it take so long!!!

20 days is a little extreme if you ask me.

20 days? You started this thread on 20th. Judging by my experience and what I've seen of others recently, it takes around 10 days to recover fastpath if the line remains ILQ green.

100% can confirm it was 20 days, the modem has a complete uptime of 24 days 5 hours. And on dslstats it was showing Since Link time 20 days x hours.

Now showing 5 hours 24 mins.

Interleaving has returned again at a rate of 1501 on the downstream, I feel I'm ready for a new modem, as I know I'm connected to an ECI DSLAM.

Do you think It'll make a difference? And is anyone on here had a positive impact when using the matching hardware?

Thank you!

Josh

EDIT: Currently using the HG612.

I have never bothered with matching the chip set of the modem to that of the DSLAM. I would always choose a device that would allow me to control and monitor the xDSL circuit. In other words, a device with a Broadcom chip set.

Perhaps one of the ZyXEL devices might suit your requirements?  :-\  I know that Kitz uses either a ZyXEL VMG8324-B10A or a VMG8924-B10A and her circuit is connected via a cabinet that is equipped with an ECI Hi-FOCuS M41 DSLAM.

The HG612 was supposed to be the most stable modem and your using it and I don't think a change of modem will solve your line issue your line has to much noise to stay on fastpath though I don't know what DLM profile your using (Fast or Standard) ?

I'm on plusnet so it's standard. My contract is up in the next few month. Who do you recommend?

Thanks bcat, I'll look into them both.  ;D

After testing way to many modems plus modem and routers combined my highest line sync for my ECI line has always been with the vmg8324 in bridge mode using v14 firmware. Tried v15 but it reducded the sync.

I use  VMG8324 on both of my ECI lines and it's been solid as a rock, especially considering I play catch with higher sync rates.

Just looking into Plusnet's DLM profile it would seem it's set at Speed which gives an allowance of 2880 ES per day how many ES counts did you see each 24 hours + were there many resyncs when you were on fastpath.

Hi NewtronStar,

Sorry but I had the impression Plusnet use the standard profile, it was confirmed to be in a live web chat, can you tell me where you found this information please?

I know I'm not getting that many, last time I looked it was around 2000 but that was around the 5 days mark.
