My TP-Link and ZyXel access points support all known 5GHz frequencies, so what excuse does Linksys have. You're right, it's definitely because they're too cheap to implement DFS, but the US Linksys models do have more frequencies so perhaps DFS is not a requirement for those particular extra frequencies over there. I thought about buying one from the US, but then I thought why even support them if they wish to be so stupid. Some of the Cisco kit is not even more expensive.
My TP-Link 5GHz-only WAPs are 7 times cheaper (!) and don't have any crippling 5GHz channel restrictions.
As things are, it's a no for 160MHz-wide ac channels, and only a single 80MHz-wide channel. So what on earth are you supposed to do if you want to use several Linksys WAPs on 5GHz? (Answer: use 2.4GHz or only 40MHz or even 20MHz thus giving up the very high data rates.) It just makes no sense at all. Business users are going to want the option of multiple access points without crazy performance restrictions.
