How long for G.inp to be reapplied after DLM reset?
« on: November 01, 2015, 02:27:46 PM »

I recently moved Fttc from Plusnet to Sky, over three weeks ago now. My line was stable, and had been capped for nearly a year, due to my adventures with my DSL-Ac68u. The cap seemed to have stuck and was not being removed even though I'd long switched back to an HG612. I also had G.inp applied right from day 1 in March.

When I migrated, they did a DLM reset, and I'm now syncing slightly higher and the cap is gone, However, even after over 3 weeks, g.inp has not been reapplied. Are there still some DLM profiles that don't include g.inp?

Unless your circuit is subjected to such error conditions that require the application of G.Inp then it will not be applied.

Please think of G.Inp as a means of error correction and not as a "booster" or "turbocharger" of the synchronisation speed.

G.inp was finally added back again last night - took over a month since the DLM reset.

I've also gained about 5Mb on my downstream :-)

Stats are on MDW as 'andyf' if anybody is interested

That's good  ;D I think what happens when you change ISP provider and depending on which profile the new ISP uses for example Plusnet use Speed and Sky uses Standard so during the transfer the line needs reset and takes a while for G.INP to become active.

This very is different to what has happened to Anyfitter your still with same ISP and still on the same profile.

On the Huawei cabs, the default is upstream G.INP off.
DLM will only apply upstream g.inp if it thinks the line needs it due to an excess error rate.

Yes should the gaining ISP use a different dlm stability profile  would cause a DLM reset  as would a change in product speed or type (ie GEA ><BT WBMC) in the op's case  they migrated to Sky  so also migrated from BT WMBC to GEA (Sky's GEA cable links ) for backhaul  this would cause a reset regardless of what stability profile was in use
I recently  was migrated  from BT wbmc to Zen's GEA and this was then later reversed due to poor single thread performance , on both occasions DLM was reset The first time it took around 6 days before G.inp was re-enabled and the second time it was 8 days , with a short period of interlag added in between due to a few hours of lots of errors  over the 2880 threshold
