Indeed, and still remember a very negative experience with a VMG3625-T20A  :-X
Ditto, I bought one very cheaply on eBay a couple of years ago and was shocked when I found out it was Mediatek based. Its performance on my line was awful too. I ended up recycling it as I couldn't with all conscience sell it to anyone else.

Isn't that Mediatek based as it is T series rather than B series?

Code: [Select]
0x451E VMG1312-T20A,VMG3312-T20A EN75XX seriesV5.30   MTK SDK 7.3.207.4              for EN75xx series, include EN7512, EN7521
https://osdn.net/projects/zyxel-vmg3312/releases/74521

Looks like it is, seems there's firmware and sources available to build it yourself.

Its nice though that Zyxel seem to tell you the chipset in the model number like that.  Is it entirely consistent across their product line?

As far as I can tell

Andrews & Arnold offer the VMG1312-T20B as their default router: https://support.aa.net.uk/Router_-_VMG1312-T20B I can't imagine it being that bad as it would have been pulled within 6 months.

Agree, but on my longish (circa 800m) line Mediatek modem chipsets, and I've tried more than one, don't play nicely at all. The errors go through the roof and DLM action would be inevitable.

Yes, compared to your lines mine is short, but for VDSL 800m is long enough on my line to drop the sync to 42/7, and that is with G.INP and 3dB.

Is that a lot of crosstalk then?

I think I've lost a bit of speed to crosstalk, but I don't think much as I was one of the early ones onto the cabinet when it went live and its never been a lot faster than this. Pre G.INP I was getting mid 30s DS sync, with the best I've ever seen with G.INP and 3dB being about 48Mbps. I think most of the loss is purely down to the line length.

Looking good:
Code: [Select]
Model Name
VMG1312-T20B
Firmware Version
V5.30(ABSB.2)C0
System Uptime
0 days 0 hours 56 minutes 6 seconds
VDSL WAN
Rx:39995 Tx:9994 (Kbps)

Now off to berate Zyxel Support on their refusal to give me the latest firmware on a generic purchased router
