Can the FTTC cab band the upstream speed
« on: September 16, 2016, 02:02:25 PM »

Reason for asking is that at my last resync on 80/20 the upstream was 9999kb/s

yes it can, it does. banding has become much more common recently. downstream banding appears to stick quite bad, I'm not so sure on the upstream.
Next resync will be a better indication.

next resync will very likely be lower as that result was after a power cut and I always get a higher number then due to absence in cross talk

I am intrigued as to how banding works. My d/s has been banded at 59995kbps for months now, at least I assume I am banded as the attainable has been quite a lot higher at least in the past couple of months. Interesting that d/s is almost always exactly 59995kbps on each re-sync.

Its simple, DLM applies banding to your line on a whim and then never removes it!  ;) At least that's my experience of it.

It does appear to be that we are seeing more cases of this :/

Is there an easy way to tell if you're banded?

Your DS SNRM will increased well above the target margin of 6dB and your sync rate will be much lower that is how you know your line is banded

Your sync rate will also be at round figure rather than some random figure.

Your sync rate will also be at round figure rather than some random figure.

ie. Data rate:   20000 / 67000 (note all the zeros)

The reason I ask is that my SNRM on my line is very odd nowadays. I never sync at the target of 6dB, it's always 6.5 and above and usually 7.5dB or higher.

It may well be due to vectoring.

Your current SNRM is showing as 16.7 dB and a sync of 39999 kbps and a attainable of 61608 kbps now there are two ways to get this result either the user manually caps/bands the modem or the DLM does it  ;)

What contributes to cause the banding to be applied in the first place?
Thanks
