Hi
I've been given a speedtouch 585v6 router and need to change the isp's details, however I cannot log in a anything but a user with the password given.I need to log in as admin but have not got the password.Any one know how to bypass this so I can change my Isp's details? I know the box is not locked ,just the root password is unknown.Seem to remember something about holding in the reset button and powering up then telneting into the box,but I 'm not sure.

The default username and password should be:

User: Administrator
Password: *blank*

Otherwise you will need to reset the modem.

I've tried holding in the reset button while powering up but it's just the same.Can log in as a user but no higher

Got in. When you do a reset you need to hold it in for around 20 seconds and not the 7 that the manual tells you

I had this problem on my ST546 back in September and I eventually concluded that a longer reset time than 7 secs was what allowed me in. I wasn't sure though and Freethinker's experience is a pretty solid confirmation that the Speedtouch instructions are wrong. It needs a longer push!
