S.Stephenson I already have a Mk3 and didn't like it all. Didn't have any advantage over the Mk2. Attenuation was higher, ES, CRC the same and sync/attainable was lower. Yeah it is pretty expensive for what it is but oh well at least it looks better than the old NTE5A :)

Similar to my findings, the MK3 is too aggressive and lowered my attainable by 2 Mbps. My MK1 gave highest sync.

Out of interest have you tried Mk2, I have not tried a Mk1 maybe this would be even better than my Mk2 lol

The T2 toroid common mode choke looks the same as the MK3 and there is a limit to the given frequency spectrum it has to work on, the only attenuation increase from MK1 to MK3 was 0.5dB my line adjusts by that much from winter to summer.

I have a MK1 and it didn't change my sync at all vs the MK3 attenuation was raised by 0.1db though. I might have another fiddle around with it though.

I thought the best way technically if you don't have a bad line the way my 2nd line it set up with no filters whatsoever with a straight pass through is best?

If the circuit is not used for a telephony service than no SSFP nor microfilters, etc, will be required.

Correct, if all you use your telephone line for is broadband (no voice calls) then all you need is this on the end of your BT line in:

Plug it into your modem/router... but keep your NTE5 handy in case you ever need to report a fault  ;)

The only reason for me to purchase this new NTE5c & MK4 is if the profile is less than the NTE5 and MK3 which sticks out in the hallway by 2 inches like a sore thumb

If you don't use an ordinary telephone, and so don't need the BT-phone type socket, then straight-through faceplates for DSL, which go onto the older NTE5, are available from the Andrews and Arnold shop. AAISP shop:

(Note: You don't have to be an existing ISP-customer.)

No offence intended. Apologies if I have misunderstood: Was just a hardware tip for their well-priced useful small items from their shop. If I sounded like a sales rep, then this was unintended. You all know I'm a big fan of A&A, but I wasn't intending to make a sales pitch for an ISP’s service. I just recommend things that I've found useful so as to give an honest tip. I also wanted to save people the effort of digging and web-researching if they want to find a useful item. If I annoy people, then I will completely stop posting, as being unhelpful is not my intention. Peace and love etc.  ;D

You will probably find that you get less stick-outage with these straight-through faceplates, as they only slot into the lower half of the older NTE5, as opposed to covering the entire front or sticking out.

for me the MK socket slightly lowered sync with no affect on ES etc.  So I dont expect this to help my line either.

I have a voice package of which I don't use, I've used the no filter faceplate with absolutely no negative effects.

Unless there's something I'm missing, I have tried ringing the line to see if I would cause an error spike but nothings ever happened.

The NTE5C and Mk4 Filter are now installed. Comparing to a NTE5A + Mk2 VDSL Filter Setup:

Attenuation has stayed the same.

DLM has lowered the Interleaving a tiny amount, this will be nothing to do with the NTE5C tho. Its just doing its thing.

The Sync speed and Attainable rate is lower than before with a lower SNR as well for the downstream.

Not looking good so far for the downstream but so far the upstream is looking healthier.

Error seconds may be interesting tho.
