HG612 on stock firmware: G.INP?
« on: September 17, 2016, 08:36:58 PM »

Does the HG612, when running in its stock, locked state, support G.INP?

What is the latest locked firmware BTW? :)

Thank you Mr. Cat. As always your speedy reply is right to the point.

How does one obtain this firmware? Just plugin the HG612 and wait for it to download it? :)

You could either download a copy that Wolfy (Howlingwolf) has made available or wait for the BTagent to "call home" and initiate a remotely controlled update.  ;)

So the firmware hasn't been updated in some time. Will it ever be upgraded again?

I believe the new firmware supports vectoring as well? :)

As far as I am aware, the last update to the firmware was to fix the bug that was discovered by Adrian Kennard of A&A. That is the version from which Wolfy created the _unlocked and the _webgui images.

As for vectoring support, I haven't been following the details too closely. If the HG612 device responds to the following command --

xdslcmd info --vectoring

-- then I would assume that it would be capable of operating on a circuit which has vectoring enabled.

I very much doubt it. The two modems (Huawei HG612 and ECI B-FOCuS /r) are no longer being supplied by Openreach and there is less than a year to go before they cease supporting any such installed devices.
