Hello,

I have a Plusnet Hub One  (BT HH5A) with an 80/20 line. I'm experiencing random reconnections with the following types of entries in the WAN log:

5 days before experienced the same issue and the line synced as:
Down Rate=79995Kbps, Up Rate=19999Kbps; SNR Margin Down=10.3dB, Up=15.4dB

1 day before the above the same issue and the line synced as:
Down Rate=79995Kbps, Up Rate=19999Kbps; SNR Margin Down=10.1dB, Up=15.3dB

4 days before above the above the same issue and the line synced as:
Down Rate=79995Kbps, Up Rate=19999Kbps; SNR Margin Down=10.6dB, Up=15.3dB

The Hub One stats are as below:

Data rate:   19999 / 79995
Maximum data rate:   28899 / 94757
Noise margin:   15.3 / 10.0
Line attenuation:   8.3 / 9.0
Signal attenuation:   8.2 / 9.0
Modulation:   G.993.2 Annex B
Software variant:   AA
Boot loader:   1.0.0

Currently on gateway pcl-ag02. Plusnet portal is reporting that the estimated and current line speed both as 80Mb although the exchange and telephone number are wrong (old number and exchange listed) - line has been active for 16 days at new address.

speedtest.btwholesale.com reports:

Download speed achieved during the test was - 74.22 Mbps For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 40 Mbps-77.43 Mbps .Additional Information: IP Profile for your line is - 77.43 Mbps

Upload speed achieved during the test was - 15.38Mbps Additional Information: Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps

There is a lot of chatter about this specific problem going away with a new modem/router. If the consensus is the same here now then I'll look to purchase a combined VDSL modem router to replace it, I'm on a Huawei cab so any recommendations for a modem/router with full 802.11n/ac and G.INP support I will go down that route. Also - does my line profile etc look right?

Any insight or help would be much appreciated

Welcome to the Kitz forum.  :)

As you appreciate, the Plusnet Hub One is just a re-badged BT HH5 and regardless of what name it is given, the general consensus is that it is currently a waste of space and electricity.

Essentially, you are very close to the PCP & its fibre twin cabinet and have significant "head room" in the two SNRM values. Anything less than the full 80/20 DS/US synchronisation speed would have me checking for potential infrastructure problems.

With regards to potential different "one box" CPEs, there is a ten page forum thread, Combined VDSL2 Modem Routers, that I would recommend you first review.

What type of infrastructure problems are you referring to and in which order should I check them? I've got a SSFP Infinity Master Socket and no extensions or anything else plugged in anywhere in the house.as a start...

There appears to be a slight misunderstanding, possibly due to my lack of clarity in the posting . . .

You are achieving the maximum synchronisation speed for the product that you have purchased and there is a healthy "head room" in the SNRM values. There is no evidence of any infrastructure problem and from your description, above, the internal wiring is optimal.  :)

Reads like standard behavior on the part of the HH5A - random unexplained reboots.

yes and no, when i was with PN i used the ECI and HG612 modems with my own router, and the PPPOE session to their Gateway would randomly end without any warning or any maintenance work being documented , i think 3 weeks on the same gateway was a record with PN for me , i usually would end up on a gateway that had peak time issues,

With zen same line same fttc product, pppoe session has been 30 days + at any time

Well I only ever had those random disconnects when I was with BT and using the HH5A. When I moved back to the HG612 these disappeared. Moved to PN 18 months ago had no issues and my line only dropped recently due to power cuts.

I stupidly threw my HG612 out when the Hub One arrived, really regretting that now but would still ideally revert to one box at this point so will look at purchasing a combined box that ideally works with providing stats and report back!
