VMG8924 commands help
« on: July 28, 2016, 05:21:11 PM »

What is the command to gracefully turn off the VDSL2 link?

On the HG612 it's 'xdslcmd connection --down' which doesn't work on this router.

Also, which command disconnects the WAN (from BT's servers) instead of clicking disconnect on the web interface, which doesn't refresh properly.

Thanks

Thanks for that, I think telnet is locked down, sh doesn't work in order to get shell access.

Try xdslctl instead xdslcmd is not valid, and you dont need sh either.

The commands I use to drop and start the ppp session:

ppp config ppp1.2 down

ppp config ppp1.2 up

The ppp interface name in your router may be different, this can be checked in the GUI ( home page > right arrow "status")
eg:
WAN Type:    PTM
WAN Name:  VDSL/ppp1.2

To get shell access to  busybox, try the following command while in telnet:

echo && bash

Ive not tried it,  but since most commands prefix with 'adsl' I would imagine it would one of these

Code: [Select]
> adsl --help
Usage: adsl start [--up] <configure command options>
       adsl stop
adsl connection [--up] [--down] [--loopback] [--reverb]
           [--medley] [--noretrain] [--L3] [--diagmode] [--L0]
           [--tones <r1-r2,r3-r4,...>] [--normal] [--freezeReverb] [--freezeMedley]

Whilst it doesnt refresh properly, I still use the web GUI to disconnect a PPP session.
All I do is click the 'disconnect/connect'  button, then navigate to say the main page, then navigate back to the status page again.

Having a little look in the CLI my guess would be  xdslctl, maybe something like :

xdslctl connection -- down

I would have a look at the built in help in the CLI and start fiddling ....

I haven't tried it as the other users in the family would kick my ass if I disconnected everything.

Have fun in there!

Theres a good explanation from USrobotics which explain all the adsl commands for the BCM63xx DSL driver.

http://support.usr.com/support/9105/9105-files/cli_reference.html

Quote
COMMANDS

start

Starts the USRobotics ADSL driver. This command calls BcmAdsl_Initialize to initialize the driver and BcmAdsl_ConnectionStart to start ADSL PHY connection if [--up] is specified. This command takes parameters that can specify various connection modes. These parameters are the same as in “configure” command.

stop

Stops ADSL connection and USRobotics ADSL driver. This command calls BcmAdsl_Uninitialize.

configure

Configures ADSL connection parameters. These command takes the same parameters as “start” command except for [--up] . This command will cause ADSL PHY to retrain.

connection

Controls ADSL connection modes, such as up and down and several special test modes. This command can also be used to specify tone selection for upstream and downstream.

/snip/

Options for the stop command

adsl stop

Options for the connection command

adsl connection [--up] [--down] [--loopback] [--reverb] [--medley] [--noretrain] [--tones <xmtStart xmtNum xmtMap rcvStart rcvNum rcvMap>]

--up

Starts ADSL connection in normal mode

--down

Puts ADSL PHY in idle mode

both 'adsl' and 'xdslctl' seem to work the same way eg

Code: [Select]
> adsl info --stats
adsl: ADSL driver and PHY status
Status: Showtime
Last Retrain Reason:    0
Last initialization procedure status:   0
Max:    Upstream rate = 30853 Kbps, Downstream rate = 84016 Kbps
Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 20000 Kbps, Downstream rate = 79987 Kbps

Link Power State:       L0
Mode:                   VDSL2 Annex B
VDSL2 Profile:          Profile 17a
TPS-TC:                 PTM Mode
Trellis:                U:ON /D:ON
Line Status:            No Defect
Training Status:        Showtime
                Down            Up
SNR (dB):        7.1             13.2
Attn(dB):        0.0             0.0
Pwr(dBm):        6.3             6.3

                        VDSL2 framing
                        Bearer 0
MSGc:           18              150
B:              239             236
M:              1               1
T:              23              5
R:              0               16
S:              0.0955          0.3771
L:              20104           5410

I:              240             255
N:              240             255

Ooops yeah that works... or something did.    :-[
I just took mine down without meaning to -     I was hoping to query the help and accidentally pasted in adsl start (far too easy done in the new windows10 cmd rather than copy) - which just caused a resync.
