TP-Link Archer C3200 v Netgear R7000
« on: July 12, 2016, 07:12:17 PM »

I can currently get both of these for the same price.

Can anyone recommend which one they'd go for?

I don't really have a need for Tri-band, just 802.11ac and good 5Ghz performance and range. I currently have a TP Link product that had been working fine for a year and a half but has started playing up recently. A firmware upgrade helped but it's been dodgy ever since.

I would go for the R7000. It's been out a while now its had a lot of firmware updates so it should be rock solid and bug free. TP Link don't seem to push as many firmware updates out as Netgear and the TP-Link C3200 has only had 1 update. They both have 1Ghz Dual Core CPU so performance is around the same.

On a purely visual aspect I would not consider either of them! Ugly and ugly.  ::)

I currently have the TP-Link Archer C2600 and am very satisfied. The only real issue with it is the range is not as good as the Netgear I believe. However, the TP-Link has a much better web GUI, but be aware that you should do a factory reset every time you update firmware. That came back to bite me in the ass when I first got it as it basically broke the WAN port completely, but the factory reset fixed it.
