Mandatory Internet ?
« on: July 07, 2016, 08:37:15 AM »

http://www.alphr.com/technology/1003883/parliament-could-soon-make-internet-connections-mandatory-in-the-uk

Am I just cynical or does a guaranteed 10 MB/sec imply 15 nominal to allow for the crosstalk from everyone else's BB ?

It'll be interesting to see if Openreach can get a move on with the fibre rollout, 10 Mbps to every house is going to be tough.

Not only for OR, just think what it would mean for some most ISPs where they would need to increase the backhaul and network capabilities if everyone had a real 10mb connection and used it at the same time!

The title of the thread and the article is misleading, it makes it sound like every home will be required to have an Internet connection

I think internet should be a human right, to say it's been 20 years since it was invented...

Ive personally been on the internet for 20yrs and it was around before then.  Even before that work had some sort of mainframe system.

Re human rights, there's plenty of homes in the UK which dont even have gas yet :/

I don't have gas in my rural area, but I do have "superfast broadband". I know which I'd rather have!  ;D
