Billion Router 8800nl
« on: July 05, 2016, 10:36:03 PM »

I am very pleased overall with my Billion Router 8800nl ongoing connected to the cabinet for 225 days (8 months) and ongoing connected to plusnet gateway for 84 days (3 months) There is no retrain on the line with no change to DLM yet.

Well given your current line is in the top spec range (very close to the cabinet) on FTTC
Attainable Rate DS 105483 Kbps US 33192 Kbps
Sync Rate DS 79999 Kbps US   19999 Kbps

any modem you use even the HH5a would have a Sync Rate of DS 79999 Kbps US 19999 Kbps

I don't use Home Hub 5 anymore nor any BT Openreach Modem. I stick with Billion router and quite happy with it.

Just noticed while looking in 8800NL logs some drivers were updated last evening which then caused the modem to reboot i have 2.32e installed yet this is still the same after driver updates this only a small portion of the update text.

I wonder if a power-cycle of the modem/router (at the right time of day) might be a good idea?

No matter how I try, I am unable to understand that log snippet.

Does the device eventually set its date and time to the present? Or does it continue to display date and time as from the epoch?

It does set it's time but the log dump then shows PPPoE stuff initializing with IP address's which I don't want to show on a public forum  ;)
