VNC client
« on: July 01, 2016, 12:42:25 PM »

Has anyone used any app for the iPad to make a remote desktop-type connection to a *Nix box using the VNC protocol? Anyone have any particular recommendations?

I have an iPad SSH client app, but don't as yet have a *Nix box to connect to, unless the postman turns up today with a well known £30 machine for me this afternoon. :-) I'd like to try connecting to a GUI too though rather than just to a command-line shell.

(I have been warned off getting an X server for the iPad because I'm told that despite there being good a quality app available, the performance of X over a wireless LAN is fairly dire, and not having a mouse in my case is presumably a showstopper, I would imagine.)

I'd suggest you use NoMachine, far better than any VNC system I've used - https://www.nomachine.com/  :)

@phi2008 - Thanks _very_ much for that tip. Ticks all the boxes - with Linux and iOS support. Much appreciate.
