Lost 1.1 dB on US
« on: June 27, 2016, 06:40:22 PM »

Came home from work and checked MDWS as I do and found some disturbances on the line from 14:33 to 15:00 the DS & US increased and fell and increased again it looks like to horns in the graphs but the US SNRm never recovered after the second disturbance.

Don't whether to reboot modem and see if the US SNRm returns back to 6dB

My advice is to just leave it alone.  :)

The "M" in the SNRM exists to allow compensation when the environment changes. As long as you still have a 3 dB "headroom" then don't worry about it.

That's fine but this line will re-sync when the SNRm go's just below 4.5dB on the downstream don't know about the upstream as the DS is the first one to trigger a DLM re-sync

Seems strange both my lines are stable at 3.8 and 3.9 on the downstream and don't resync.

I know it is strange and can't understand why my line has this oddity have graphs with just over 3 years of stats and when the DS SNRm has just gone below 4.5dB then 10 to 15 minutes later the modem will re-sync.

Just a quick query. Those graphs will show the effect when you were using a Huawei HG612 as a modem. Have you witnesses a re-synchronisation event occurring, when the DS SNRM drops under 4.5 dB, with your Billion 8800NL modem/router?

Yes this also happened when using the 8800NL it was on the second day after removing the HG612 and with the 8800NL inplace the DS SNRm fell to 4.4dB and soon after the 8800NL modem/router had to re-sync

Hmm . . . So a device specific effect can be ruled out.

Puzzling.  ???

This does not happen regularly BC as the SNRm is going from 5.7 to 6.5dB for weeks on end with no resyncs then that odd downwards spike to 4.4dB would show it's head again it happens 4-6 times in a year so it not that bad definitely not service effecting the EU not European Union I am sure we are sick to the back teeth hearing that term what I meant was the End-User (EU)  :-X

US SNRm has return back to previous levels and thought is was gone for ever due to crosstalk, guess the disturber decided to reboot there modem or they got hit by a DLM resync  :-\

Seeing that upwards spike, it certainly looks like a cross-talker undergoing a resynchronisation event.

Would love to gain that DS extra 3dB from are disturber and now with Vectoring binned it was hot a topic for a few years on broadband forums the fix to reduce the effects of crosstalk

I know this G.FAST is supposedly being tested it could be a long time before a 1km line sees any benefit from this tech.

The proposed implementation of vectoring as an addition to G.993.2 (VDSL2) circuits certainly appears to have been shelved but vectoring is very much a fundamental part of the G.9700/G.9701 (G.Fast) circuit implementation . . .
