Well I think I'll give up on the D7800 and return it this evening. Tried quite a few things with Netgear Support (not too impressed with them now tbh!) including rolling back the firmware, nothing worked to give me good sync rates. My upload was actually some 50% lower than it is on the SBG3300-N.

Think I'll try a VMG8924-B10A, I assume it has the same Broadcom chipset as the SBG3300-N and will work with DSLstats?

When looking for new combined modem & routers my first thought will it work with DSLstats & hg612_modem_stats and then search all over the internet for information on the chipset and dsl drivers to get an answer it can be very hard at times.

So I just stick with the known modems that work with the stats software and the VMG8924-B10A is in the list of modems that will work on the stats software  :)

I just placed an order for Infinity 2 last night and after long discussions with the rep to try and get a modem only, he told me I was getting a new Home Hub 6, could be interesting to see what it is like.

Probably still on the look out for a modem instead once I check what cabinet type I have.

can't you just walk to your local cabinet and check? it's very easy to tell. if fttc just went live it's most likely a Huawei cabinet unless the cabinet has been standing a long time and other issues like power supply have held it up.
