BT Infinity - offers for existing customers.
« on: May 14, 2016, 02:24:23 PM »

Existing BT Infinity customers (including those in minimum contracts) may want to have a look at https://www.bt.com/myoffer to see what BT are offering you.

I joined BT last August paying £10/month for unlimited BT Infinity 1 and am offered various deals including:

1. BT Infinity 1 at £10/month for another 12 months (@55/10MB)
2. BT Infinity 2 for 17.50/month

These options mean you also avoid the BT broadband price rises due from the start of July and if on BT Infinity 1 getting 55/10 now rather than waiting for Bt to upgrade you later

http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/56111 is the relevant BT FAQ.

Following the link above to My BT my offer is the same service for about £1 a month less but for 24 months.

If I log in to My BT via my normal route I am offered the same service for £6 a month more OR 76Mb service for a lot more a month.

Since I am 2 km from my cabinet I am lucky to get 17Mb.

Does not seem to be all that personalised!

Also as a BT customer for 40 years I am unhappy to see fairly recent joiners getting a better deal than me.

£1 less than you currently pay?

I don't think that how long one has been a customer determines what kind of offer you get - more what package you already have from BT, how much you currently pay and whether you are in contract or not.

If they were intelligent, they would also use the maximum speed your line could support in their formula but I suspect they don't do this.

You could always try calling BT's customer options team on 0800 800 030 and see what deal they will offer you if you say you are thinking of leaving due to the price rises due in July though I know many don't like haggling over the phone hence one reason why the link I posted might be useful.

Sadly, I think all companies tend to reserve the very best deals including cashback and free equipment for new customers - partly to get market share/as a loss leader and partly as they hope you won't move afterwards.

Still its interesting to hear about what others are offered..

It's a good link to post.  Some people have had emails alerting them to the offers  - but not all.

Yes - I shall certainly haggle about the July price rises. Being now fully retired from work I have plenty of time and energy to point at BT's direction!

So just signed up and got £2.85 a month off my present deal. Had to sign for 24 months but come the next price rise I can haggle again.

Also did 12 month LSR at current price so got the normal 10% off and avoided the £1 increase.

Bit of an attempt to sell my BT TV, Sports and mobile sim but all amicable.

I could get cheaper by moving but it works okay so I'll leave that sleeping dog to lie.

I'm getting rather fed up with BT and their mid-contract price rises. It looks like Plusnet, Virgin Media and Sky do the same aswell. According to [link deleted] it's only TalkTalk and the Post Office that currently offer fixed price broadband for the duration of the contract. Not sure I want to switch to any of those!

I wonder how many people get the £1 offer.

It seems a bit of a joke offer. They are just wanting people to commit to an 18 month contract, in my case.

Nothing has changed. I am currently with BT on the Unlimited 2 package. It costs me £54.49 per month.

I spoke to the BT retentions department and mentioned i have been a BT customer since the dialup days.  All they could do was offer to sell me the 'SuperFibre' range off packages. Even when i mentioned new customers pay £30 less than i do.

BT 'SuperFibre' should be done for false advertising. I only have FTTC.

So i've moved to Plusnet for £24.99 + £4 landline call package.

Was the £54.94 including so-called line rental or was that an extra tax on top? Oh and was that an inc VAT figure?

Hi Weaver, Here is the breakdown:

'This is the cost of your Package at £58.49 a month, charged in advance from
10 Mar 2018 to 9 Jun 2018.
This gives you:
Calling Plan Unlimited Weekend Calls
Broadband Unlimited BT Infinity 2
Line Rental Plus is now included in your package'

All they could offer over what i already have is hub replacement of hub if it fails.

The Plusnet hub is included. There is no activation fee either.

I've found BT to be one of the more expensive 'mainstream' ISP's - I did manage to barter them down to £37 on my Infinity 2 line with standard calls.

Although I've now been able to cease that line as my speed dropped below the minimum. To give them their due, their service/cancelation department is very thorough and helpful, they made it very easy for me to cease and port my number to Vonage once they accepted they were in breach.

I find their deals for existing customers to be okay. They obviously don't offer good deals to those tied in mid contact.

I currently pay £26.49/month for Infinity 1, inclusive of line rental. That deal is no longer available since the latest round of price rises.

They will offer existing customers Infinity 1 (with line rental) for £29.99/month.
You must be out of contract or possibly at the very end of your contract to get this price though.
Just ask to speak to the retentions department.

Just checked mine, they offered me the chance to "upgrade" to the exact same for an extra £5/month  £48.49 to £53.49 for Infinity 2

Is Plusnet any good these days?
