Manual resyc - best time
« on: May 12, 2016, 09:24:55 PM »

What is the best time to manually resync the router? I need to change some settings in my router so will do factory reset, decided to switch it off for 30 min and then switch it back on, does it even count as a resync?

What is the best time to manually resync the router?

The best time frame would be during the 1100 - 1200 hours window.

Yes, a power off and a power back on is equivalent to a resynchronisation event.

Your best plan of action would be to power off the modem/router (I presume you have an all-in-one device?) and then disconnect the link cable between the filter & the modem/router. Now you can power up the modem/router and make any configuration changes, etc.

Yes, I have All-in-one device, a TD-W9980.

I was thinking about powering it off, plugging DSL cable off then make changes in router, wait 30 minutes, power it off again, plug DSL cable and power it on after 30 min.

Isn't the best time when whe Noise Margin is highest? Mine is highest at night about 2-3am.

In general, most circuits' SNRM will be at their highest during the time-frame that I mentioned. However there will always be exceptions. I guess your circuit is an exception. So please do the deed when you think it will be appropriate.

As long as you disconnect the patch cable that links the modem/router to the incoming telephone circuit (via the filter), then you can power it back up and make any adjustments to the configuration, etc. Once all the adjustments have been made, re-boot the modem/router and when the 30 minutes have elapsed just reconnect the patch cable.

Ok resynced mine.

Gained about 0.3 mbps of upload and 0.2 mbps of download with SnRs of 6.2 and 6 dB.

They may be small increases but according to a certain supermarket's slogan -- Every little helps:)
