Upload speed banded
« on: May 07, 2016, 12:23:48 AM »

I haven't noticed many people mention this. But with the thread about banding being talked about and looking around the posts when people show their stats I noticed most peoples upload connection is 20000, were mine is always 18999.

I was looking through some image files yesterday, I deleted a bunch of them, and noticed that I must have taken a screenshot of my connection stats when I was using the HH5. I noticed before the HH5 started going stupid i.e. disconnecting and reconnecting about 5 times in one night, the upload speed on fastpath was 20000. But since I changed to the HG612 it's never been above 18999. Infact the 18999 never changes. I have around the same attainable rate of 21683 as I had with the HH5, and I've never had interleaving on the upload stream. So I can only assume its banded.

I realise that I'm not missing much upload speed. But it got me thinking what is the actual procedure to get banding removed from lines? As anyone got rid of banding? If so, what did you do?

With all the G.INP faffing on ECI cabs and a load of ups and downs and odd reboots etc. i went from a Type A to a Type B HH5 and my upstream also dropped to 19000 although the BT checker still shows a 20Mbit profile.

3.    Firmware version:    v0.07.05.0A13-BT (Type B) Last updated 12/4/2016
4.    Board version:    01

6.   Data Rate:   19000 / 79999

The upstream IP Profile merely indicates what package you're subscribed to. It doesn't reflect the sync speed and it doesn't change.

Doesn't change the that the sync has been 20,000 since god was a lad but since the G.INP/ECI cobblers it no longer is.

It is weird that my upload used to show 20000 on the HH5. I haven't changed the deal I'm on.

The only things have changed is the HH5 went haywire (about a year ago) and I swapped it out for the HG612 modem.

I'm on an ECI cabinet too. I wonder if its some HG612 conflict with the ECI that it doesnt register at 20000?

I've tried removing the tick from the QoS section on the HG612. I've heard that it can increase speeds slightly. I guess I'll have to check on the next re-sync.

That won't change your sync speed but you should find your upload throughput increases by 0.7-1MB.
