new lappy came with win10 but ditching it
« on: April 26, 2016, 06:19:59 PM »

Sorry guys :(

the start menu looks really silly on the 768p resolution :p
Plus I can only see the forced reinstall of windows for every threshold release driving me nuts.

The inclusive hdd seems really slow, on the other hand the core i3 5005 is a pretty nice chip.

Will probably play with linux a bit on my existing laptop before I sell it.

I will swap the hdd with the ssd in my existing laptop, and probably upgrade the ram at some point next month (4gig currently will buy 2nd 4gig stick).

I'd ditch it too, with Cortana now only limiting your searches to bing... How frustrating!

768p resolution  :o

Still HDD  :o

Using Cortana to search  :o

I'm using 1080 resolution. SSD as my system drive and I only let Cortana search my computer.

Since using a SSD I've noticed the real slowness of the HDD these days.

even at 1080p the start menu and various win10 UI elements are too big, the Ui feels like its designed for 1440p upwards.

Apparently you can remove the tiles, and it will look more like Windows 7 then

You can also adjust the size, but it won't let me go slimmer than 3 tiles wide.

He's actually gone for an alternative old operating system. But your right, there are a number of old operating systems to choose from. I notice W10 flies on my Macbook Air, much faster than MacOS.
