do bt use pppoe for their fttp services, I hope not as that is an aweful slow protocol.

e.g. when I was using pppoe on plusnet 50mbit throughput used up 85% of my router cpu with CTF disabled, whilst on sky not using pppoe its just 13%.

Yes they do, it's considerably more complicated for them to do what they do without, and no it isn't. The BRAS, LACs, etc, have dedicated hardware assistance to manage PPPoE, your router doesn't. Even with CTF disabled there's still hardware assist for basic IP built into the chipsets.

PPPoE doesn't seem to make a dent in my router's CPU because it has some hardware offload of PPPoE :)

Well rang plusnet up and they sorted the profile.

On another note Plusnet said my line was out of the estimated range and they are sending an engineer to try sort any problems outside the property or something.

yeah it will be low with CTF enabled, note i have it disabled out of choice.  My router will work with PPPOE and CTF together if I want it to.

Welcome to the Kitz forum.

The answer to your query is yes. You would purchase two VDSL2 based services, one from each of those two CPs and then with your own equipment perform the load balancing.

Load balancing just requires two or more circuits and the relevant equipment at the EU's end of the circuits.

Line bonding requires two or more circuits, the co-operation of the CP, with equipment required at both ends (CP & EU) of all the involved circuits.
