Load Balance with 2 VDSL Lines
« on: April 19, 2016, 11:58:31 AM »

Working great.

Line One
BT - Sync 62819/16995 HG612
G.INP Enabled

Line Two
Plusnet - Sync 66074/20000 ECi
G.INP Disabled

Hopefully when G.INP starts on the 2nd line it should jump to 70mbps, i'm currently hitting a cap of 10MB/s I think it's due to the WAN/LAN connection but i'll experiment and see if I can get the TL-ER5120 to manage the whole 120mbps.

All in all very pleased at the moment.

For comparison I've attached the both lines stats on the ECI with OpenWRT.

Edit:
Figured out the 100mbps problem, it was as I suspected initially, the 100mbps LAN on the ECI Modem, as a result of fixing this I am currently downloading a game from steam at 14.8MB/s(118.4mbps).

That's awesome. How did you go about getting another VDSL line?

Just rang up Plusnet and asked for one, there is a £50 charge for a new line though.

One of the positives so far is I'm not my own crosstalker  like I feared I would be.

Ah fair enough that's not too bad. Wonder if BT will give me a 2nd fibre so I can get 660Mbps when it's all live here?

To load balance those you'd need a supercomputer, I'm sure BT will rollout 1Gb fttp eventually.

Also FTTP has nothing on my upload

Nice, what are you using for the load balancing?

PS. My brother currently has two lines running, and the new ones not affected the old one which was surprising.

I use a TL-ER5120 I don't think I'm reaching its limit at with the two connections I have either.

You'd be surprised. My version 1 hardware TL-ER5120 struggled with ~140Mb. It really isn't fond of PPPoE.

My second line when I had one didn't made a dent in the first one either, which was nice.

Seem to be having a few slight issues with it now  :o

I have been running it with Dynamic IP as I need the HH5 for TV, and I had definite speed problems when I did PPOE with the 2nd line.

What type of cap were you experiencing, for some reason it seems to stick around 70-90mbps on the download now...

I'm just wondering how it worked fine at 120mbps so well initially.  ???

Really don't want to spend a load of money on a better balancer.

I switched off every feature I didn't need, running it at an absolute baseline configuration, and it was okay with 130-140Mb.

It was fed by 2 x Huawei modems.

I'm unsure why you're struggling so much. Perhaps check MTUs and ensure you're not causing fragmentation? That'd take a toll.

what about pfsense? I used to have a pfsense do the bonding and that would handle multuple lines if you build the machine required?

I've disabled everything I can find and I'm still reaching a limit of ~80mbps so some balancing is occurring as I still get the max for upload.

Really confused as it worked at first  ???

I'm going to try both using PPOE just to eliminate Dynamic IP being the limiting factor.

Edit: The Plusnet line is limiting itself to

Going to have a word with them tommorow.

Definitely something has gone weird with the Plusnet line.

Sync is at 58mbps at the moment which is disappointing but understandable.

Bonded FTTC:

How did you get a bonded FTTC line?

I'd be interested in that! :)
