Openreach Engineer No-show
« on: April 06, 2016, 09:04:23 PM »

So, booked an Openreach engineer for yesterday afternoon slot 1300-1800. Having heard nothing I rang Sky at 1600 to make sure he was coming - "he's got 2 hours yet," they said. Unfortunately he didn't turn up.

He phoned me this morning 0800 announcing he would be along this afternoon for the appointment. I told him he'd missed it already, to which he replied "we don't miss appointments". WTF?

Is he pretending to live in a parallel universe or something?

£10 credit for the inconvenience  ???

According to Sky, they see this all the time.

Luckily, we've never had an Openreach engineer no show. Most of the time, it's been the same Openreach engineer who eventually became a friend of ours after so many line faults years ago!

Hmmm ?? I wonder if SKY are embellishing things, wouldn't be like them where BT are concerned ...... but you never know  ;).

On the Plusnet forums they said they're not allowed to chase OR until two hours after the end of the appointment slot.

Edit - should point out that since last September we've had 9 OR appointments and only one no-show, in that case we were notified shortly after the appointment to say he wouldn't be able to make it.

You mean Openreach may actually keep some appointments?

Don't be ridiculous. SKY say we don't do appointments.

I don't know what that means. Sky have now booked a new appointment for Monday afternoon.
Let's see if the Openreach engineer can keep this one.

Yes, the Openreach engineer turned up. Interestingly he was the same one who missed the appointment and indicated he felt the problem may have been due to Sky booking the wrong slot, but I didn't labour the point.

He did all the checks again and said the line was fine. He then installed a new Mk3 faceplate and did a DLM reset which has removed G.INP from the line.

There have been no further problems since and hopefully G.INP will be re-applied soon.

Best way, as that I find is generally the case.
