Billion 8800 MTU 1500 with BT
« on: March 21, 2016, 11:02:04 AM »

Hi,

I've got a Billlion 8800 and want it to run a PPPoE link with a standard 1500 byte ethernet frame to my ISP (BT Infinity 2) but I don't know if it's possible to do it with this device. Is it possible? Is it just a matter of putting 1500 in the PPPoE page and it will automatically create the 1508 byte mini jumbo frame interface?

Thanks
Tim

To be honest, I'm not sure.  :-\

Perhaps you could try the experiment and see if you obtain the required result?

Thanks BCat.

I can establish a 1500MTU if I use my regular router (using PPPoE) through the Billlions bridge mode... but can't find a way using the 8800 as a regular router.

I see. That's a bit of a disappointment but not completely unexpected. I believe other devices behave similarly.

It really depends upon whether you are prepared to have a two box solution (or are allowed to have a two box solution) when only one was used previously.  :-X
