There is one or possibly two ways to crossflash without using the opening the case and accessing the serial connection, but it's too late for that now.
I can't see anything wrong with the commands entered, so perhaps the problem was in the making of the "cut" .bin file. It's the first 0x20200 bytes that need removing from the original TP-Link .bin file that can be downloaded from their website.
