SRA stands for seamless rate adaptation which allows the speed of the connection to be changed on the fly, without a retrain and an expensive time gap.

Oh right, surely to change the line rate the line has to resync?

Seamless rate adaptation (SRA) is a technique that changes the line rate without needing the xTU-C and xTU-R to resynchronise.

Oh, I see! So, how come everytime DLM resyncs the line the DSL light goes out?

Because SRA is currently not enabled for the Openreach cabinet based DSLAMs.
