Glad you are, better not disconnect or you'll have issues again

There's another thread on same subject now started

Hopefully fix it soon as in Yorkshire were still not connected.

Many thanks

Seems they are getting things back online.  :)

I am curious though what could go wrong and affect BT Retail DSL lines, the various BT websites including bt.com and also wholesale DSL login attempts all at the same time

Hi

I would be tempted to repower your router or drop current ppp and reconnect

I think most are now live

If still not connected, I would wait until 7pm as posted as ETA for fix

Many thanks

No, don't think it has anything to do with DLM.

Not sure what has affected the BT websites (bt.com, openreach and BTW) but suspect the problem with the DSL lines not connecting is a PPP or authentication issue.

Makes sense now as I thought it was DLM actions and then the broadband couldn't reconnect after the action had taken place but it was actually an authentication issue in the end.

It's taken me ages to be able to connect to the forum.

I could connect to the front page of the kitz site but it kept timing out if I clicked the options.

It's not just kitz site either thats having connecting problems.. hopefully everything is getting back to normal now though.

The not being able to get back online I would definitely say was an authentication issue.

However it is really strange that certain websites are unavailable and why.

Those sites that arent available are they all UK sites.
Included in UK sites would also be any worldwide sites but hosted at the likes of akamai (london).
My hosts direct peer with all the major ISPs, so you shouldnt have to go out to the general www to reach my server. BT.com and sky news (via akami) also direct peer.

Well we are finally back online although I think the last hour or two was possibly my fault. For some reason muppet here thought it would be a good idea to plug a microfilter into the integrated faceplate filter  and then the DSL lead into that. Muppet.

I think I'm going to slope off to the local now for a swift couple of pints...  :D

I just happened to notice on twitter Virgin Media users also reporting outages and downtime today since lunchtime.

According to downdetector,

Just also noticed this in my mailbox from BT wholesale.

We are currently experiencing difficulties with BTWholesale.com which may affect your ability to use this application or use some of its features.
Other BT wholesale systems may also be impacted which may affect our ability to answer Customer queries. We would therefore request that you refrain from contacting BT Wholesale until these issues have been resolved.

Work has commenced to restore service.
