So I updated to build 14xxx
Since I have done a fair amount of hardening etc. to the machine now I analysed what survived the update.
Here is my notes
Windows 10 build update notes
What is lost on an update.
Bcdedit settings are all reverted to defaults including recovery and DEP settings
Registry settings not associated with a UI applet are reset. such as shortcut folders and built in zip container. (important as many are security hardening)
Some settings survive such as SRP policies configured by cryptopreventer and hashtab explorer extenssions
Group policies survive.
File sharing settings get reset.
IPv6 tunnels reset
IPv6 prefix policies reset
Powershell saved command history lost
Nettime service disabled
Device Driver auto updates reset to enabled.
Task manager settings lost
ccleaner auto removed during update process for compatibility reasons (without my approval)
Intel NIC settings reset
Broken apps due to new build
Avast stopped auto running on boot and required reinstallation to work properly again.
7+ Taskbar Tweaker broken (it broke on TH1 as well which dev had to fix)
So folks we now have a unstable windows code base breaking apps and tweaks have to be reapplied after build updates
Luckily since I made a script to mass apply all the tweaks that are lost I simply have to rerun my batch file for those.
Some reset settings like the file sharing I had to reapply ni the UI tho
--updated added intel nic to list--
