It's a two-way street - Plusnet's customers will share the advantage of the HH5 and BT's customers will share the delights of Plusnet's traffic management  >:D

Ah I see now ……. you mean the word on the street is that BT Retail ISP and Plusnet ISP will likely merge sometime in the future ??  :)

When Plusnet was acquired the thinking was obviously so that the BT group could compete with Sky and TalkTalk on price while still charging all the people who had been with BT for donkey's years are were not going to move the expensive prices. That has now changed and we see more aggressive marketing from BT Retail.

However there are a lot of people who for various reasons want to be as far away from anything to do with BT as possible. It comes as a shock to some of them to find out Plusnet is owned by BT. For that reason alone I don't think we'll see a brand merger any time soon.

BT announce new call UK call centres, Plusnet start using BT Home Hub.

Definitely sounds like a merger to me! Where is an easy place to get a huge UK call centre from!

Looking at the latest BT Fibre offering 80/20 £21.67 per month equivalent for 12 months whereas Plusnet offer is £10.00 a month for 6 months then £19.99 a month so Plusnet are still significantly cheaper providing your exchange isn't Market A

I doubt Plusnet's call centre(s) is/are anything like big enough for BT - they can't (acording to many users feedback on their forums) answer calls from the much smaller Plusnet userbase in a reasonable timescale.

As long as PN and BT Retail are both profitable there's no point in 'merging' as running two separate brands is likely to give significantly more market share.

Weren't BT buying a UK mobile operator?  EE?  Don't they have a large UK call centre?

Sorry to add to the OT discussion  :(

I thought (in their advertising at least) BT claimed the HH5 was to (ISP supplied) routers as Sunblest was to bread?

I think if he replaces that with a HH5 type B his sync would be 79999.

Yes it is. Same with other Broadbcom chipset based devices.

... the pppoe session drops for no reason well it seem to be every 14 days from this link https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity-Speed-Connection/BTHH5-rebooting-every-14-days-Type-A-only/td-p/1549724

Must admit, I know nothing of this problem. I can categorically tell you though, that I've had PPP sessions nailed up for well over 14 days using the device.
