Order has been rejected but added to waiting list.

"No DSLAM capacity is available on this PCP. Capacity is planned to be delivered and your order is in a waiters list. You may cancel this order with no charge at any time prior to KCI2 being received"

Wonder how long that's going to be then! And why the checker said 'Available' for a bit earlier.

Hi Imartin,

According to a PDF I read recently on this subject an Openreach waiting list can remain open for 90 days before it is automatically cancelled.
I don't believe there is any BT Group commitment to upgrade a cabinet at capacity either.
However your ISP should be monitoring the availability status and if it becomes available, the order should be placed without any further involvement on your part.

There is a glimmer of hope as you are the proud observer of a small FTTC which should only require another set of 50 pr cables to be installed.
Unless they have skimped entirely by using only the existing GPO ducts, it should be quite easy to add another two 50 pr cables without any real roadworks.

Just as an aside we now observe some, but not all, showing that FTTC is available but not available !
May the Almighty help the uninitiated faced with this obfuscation !

Kind regards,
Walter

I thought SoGEA was not available anywhere yet. SoGEA being FTTC broadband without requiring you to have a phone line back to the exchange.

Gentlefolk,

Is this a real need to include additional equipment in a FTTC or is it just BT's procrastionationary obfuscation ?

Kind regards,
Walter

BTWholesale updating their Broadband Availability Checker for new services. Is there a real need for SOGEA? Is there a real need for a landline phone these days?

Some information on SOGEA is in STIN 517 recently published on http://www.btplc.com/sinet/

There is also information about BTWholesale changes to the availability checker (amongst other things) in the "Release AX Notification walkthrough slides" documents. Apparently they are going to change the wording about those left in jumpers.

Sadly our FTTC cabinet cards were exhausted within one week of arrival.  :(

Now it says "Waiting list", but more annoyingly I was hoping that ADSL2+ would have arrived by now.  It was scheduled to be migrated last June and ever since it is being moved a month ahead of present date.  Given that cross-talk will reduce FTTC speeds, I would rather hold out for ADSL2+ and see what DS rates I get with that first.  Would you know if SMCHY will be upgraded to ADSL2+ and when?

Yes, it's a small Huawei cabinet - as shown on the right here - http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/fttc-cabinets.htm "Huawei 96/128 FTTC cabinet".  Still no upgrade though - despite originally showing a date back in September!

At least I have an order on the 'waiters list'.  Does anyone know if the order gets confirmed as soon as there is capacity available or do they get 'checked' periodically?

@Mick

Given you current estimate for 20CN ADSL1 I don't think ADSL2+ is going to make a huge difference - maybe 6-7Mbps.

I hope it will be better at that.  Despite what BT availability tester shows I have a 6500 IP Profile on ADSL1.  I hope to get a minimum of 9000 on ADSL2+.  :fingers:

I've had an informative message on Twitter from CDS.  Although it's contents are a little disappointing!

Quote
Hi Liam, Normally when there is a capacity issue, another card needs to be added into the cab, in this case, however, it is completely full and a new DSLAM is being planned.  We are awaiting the start of this work but it can take some months unfortunately.  We will continue to push at this end and ensure it is being worked on, sorry that we can't give you better news at this stage.

Hi all,

Sorry to jump in this thread but it has been a great help to read through.  I am in exactly the same situation as lmartin although on a different exchange.

Can I get on the waiting list via BT? As whenever I call I just get told I cannot order infinity, some BT CS tell me the cabinet is not enabled for infinity, despite me showing them the link to the dslchecker.bt.com with my house/phone number inputted.

With 5 people (my wife, 3 tech savy kids and myself) vying for bandwidth arguments are aplenty, haha.

The exchange is Buckley and the cabinet is number 24 (in Penyffordd), I cannot see anything on roadworks.org, then again, the location of the cabinet set back on a large grass area may mean that road works are not needed.  If anyone can shed any light on what I can do/say to get on the waiting list or if there is any light at the end of the tunnel that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I feel for you PEdmunds.

What frustrates me the most is that this cabinet serves a new residential area of Exeter (Newcourt) where there are several thousand new homes - many already developed in the past few years but with several hundred more currently being built or planned.  The cabinet installed does not reflect this (it's a smaller one) and clearly doesn't cater for the area given that it's not been live long and is already full :(.

With 4 adults in the house and the demand for media consumption being what it is these days, a 3Mb connection that drops out regularly really does not suffice.

We'll get there eventually, its the lack of info of when that will be that is most annoying, this is also a new build development, there are 2 serving cabinets both the Huawei 288 type, I first spoke to BT in June about as a prospective new customer and was told then that I would get between 1 and 2.5mb speeds so I know the cab has been full for at least 6 months, we moved from a VM area where we were on their 150mb tier broadband which doesnt help, lol.

I will speak to BT today and enquir about this waiting list for the cab, not even sure if it matters if it can time out!

Well I spoke to BT Care who confirmed the need to place an order to get onto the wait list on the PCP, however when speaking to BT sales they simply say they have no idea about the wait list and that an order cannot be placed, they state I should just check availability daily, lol.

It appears it is impossible to get on to this wait list.

Frustrating!!

Another update,  I recieved a call from someone in the 'executive level complaints' who informed me that BT are not included in the BT wait list program currently....go figure, lol.

Oh well, back to waiting and checking the dsl checker site constantly.
