Guys, picked up an Asus earlier in the week, was previously using the OR modem and tehnicolor 799 router.
All worked well and was getting 76MB down when doing speed tests with the OR/Technicolor setup. 

I plugged in the Asus, and it was blistering fast to begin with 71MB down, but the next day I had a 2.5mb connection... rebooted and got a 30MB connection down... rebooted again and got a 49mb connection down, it seem's to be all over the place...

Firmware was updated to the newest version, any thoughts, it's less than a week old so I can take it back should I need to, don't really want to, but want to get the thing running properly.

You've posted this in the wrong section, you'd be better off posting in the section "FTTC and FTTH Issues"

Ask a mod to move your post, its where I have posted for my issue as well. I am also using the same router as you but for another issue.

In both samples you have given the Data Rate Down 59621 kbps is the same on both so at least thats consistent.

You are using a wired lan cable rather than using wi-fi during those speed tests ?

yes, both speed tests were when I was plugged in using an ethernet cable.

Thankyou fuzed for comfiming this. your MAX Rate Down 94136 is saying you sould be getting a Data Rate in the 70000+ kbps.

Are you connected to an ECI or Huawei cabinet and did you have G.INP enable on your line with old OR modem.

hi, its a Huawei cabinet outside... I'm not sure if G.INP was enabled, as I never touched the OR modem, it was setup as default.

It's interesting one user on another thread using Asus DSL-AC68U on ECI cab sees his sync rate increase from 63megs to 71megs and your on a Huawei cab the results are reversed

It's very odd, I was fine when I first plugged it in last night, although I did have trouble getting it to connect the day before, so I had plugged it in and unplugged it a few times (hadn't got the correct vlan ID entered), would this have caused issues, i.e. connection drop outs etc?

Any thought's on what I should do, just leave it alone for a week or so and see how it goes or are there any settings I can change to push it to work at a higher speed?

A few disconects in 15 mins should not cause to much hassle, give it 7 days and if your still not happy with this DSL-AC68U you can send it back with full refund.

just enabled G.INP in the settings and the stats changed...


max download speed as gone up now to 77MB...

You will see an increase on throughput in 48 hours as G.INP must have been turned off on the modem by default in the settings.

been away for the weekend, and speed hasn't increased at all... still sitting at 55MB down... which is weird.. although I'm getting 7ms ping which appears stupidly quick...

so not Impressed so far.

has anyone had any luck pushing the modem/router to work better?
