boot/restore a machine from a networked backup
That is what I bought mine for (needed it after my failed upgrade to Win 10).
I bought the anker device first but that did not work without installing drivers (returned to amazon) then tried the plugable one...as you say perfect.

I had been looking at a number of similar devices and missed the requirement for a driver on the Anker Product as others did not!!
I may also return it as this is inconvenient

Update:Just checked and I guess you are referring to
Linux not needing a driver as there are drivers supplied with both the Anker product and the Pluggable product for Windows and Linux ?
I did research the product carefully and the comments include a statement that the Hub & Ethernet worked without having to install any drivers on Windows 7, which was the criteria of importance to me.
That is why I assumed no Driver was needed.
I need to test it out and see what the issue are if any.
May not be a problem after all.
