DSLStats is already running. Closing down
« on: September 14, 2015, 11:13:38 PM »

DSLStats is pinned to the task bar, and minimised. I have just come back from watching TV. I have tried to bring up the screen to view current status but am getting message as in title. There's no sign of supposed running program.

Ideas or instructions, please! :-\

That message can only be seen when trying to start up DSLstats, if there is already an instance of it running. It seems that the taskbar instance is trying to start a second instance, instead of simply restoring itself. I don't know enough about Windows to understand how this can happen, but I would guess that the way out would be to right-click on the taskbar icon and see what the popup menu says (if there is one).

I think DSLstats must be running, and the taskbar icon is misbehaving somehow. I guess there's a way of seeing all the processes which are running in Windows. If you can call that up you should be able to locate dslstats.exe and kill it.

I'll try that next time; I've just restarted comp to solve for now. False dawn, as when I tied to bring screen up from minimise same thing occurred. Processes has only one instance showing. Will faff about with that and see outcome.

Run Windows Task Manager [Right click Task Bar 'Start Task Manager']
Click Processes Tab
Left Click 'Image Name' Column Header to sort list.
Find dslstats.exe in list
Right click 'dslstats.exe' in list
left click 'End Process Tree'
Process should be 'killed' with any child processes.

I last posted before lunch and an enforced trip with SWMBO. Did stop the process and restarted, but problem returned. Then I noticed that DSLStats had got its icon placed in systray, along with antivirus and mbytes. I don't recall placing it there.

Perhaps senile decay is not far off! :o

It creeps up on you when you are looking the other way.  ;D :D
Apparently, statins are a good way to improve your odds against getting Alzheimer's and similar dementia related illnesses.

Statins, yes, and my cholesterol count is well down, but I rattle taking a total of 14 tabs a day in all for various conditions. ;D
