DLM removing G.INP on upstream
« on: September 20, 2015, 10:49:21 AM »

Anyone heard of DLM removing G.INP on the upstream?  I had a DLM resync this morning at 9:31 (quite late, I thought), and while my upstream sync went up by about 2mbits, the downstream sync dropped by about 10% (or 700kbits), then I noticed that G.INP had been turned off on the upstream, whereas it had been enabled before.

I did change from the ZyXEL VMG8924-B10A to the HG612 two days ago, so I'm unsure if this change has prompted DLM to turn G.INP off.

Any ideas?

I'm lcl00 on MDWS, if that helps.

Yes, it's standard practice now. DLM will restore upstream G.INP if it decides that the connection really needs it, but otherwise not.

DLM does appear to only apply US G.INP for as long as it is needed, rather than switch it on and leave it.
I have had the same thing happen, my US G.INP disappeared recently.

That seems a bit strange given that I'm actually losing both sync and probably stability in doing that.  Will there have been any benefits, like a latency drop or anything like that?

It's for compatibility with modems which don't support upstream G.INP. With modems which do, DLM will continue to apply G.INP both up and down as needed, but the default is not to apply it on the upstream.
