Would DSL Stats give any idea why my ping has increased
« on: September 03, 2015, 10:40:06 AM »

There was no drop in sync, no drop of PPP session and no change in Plusnet gateway
If it helps I can provide the full telnet result

You could check to see if there was an increase in CRC errors and/or higher values of errored seconds.

Perhaps your routing to the tbb pingbox changed, although mine is:

Code: [Select]
traceroute to pingbox1.thinkbroadband.com (80.249.99.164), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets
 1  gateway (192.168.0.1)  3.197 ms
 2  lo0.13.central13.pcl-bng02.plus.net (195.166.130.154)  33.967 ms
 3  irb.13.pcl-cr02.plus.net (84.93.249.130)  12.211 ms
 4  ae1.ptw-cr02.plus.net (195.166.129.2)  12.187 ms
 5  ae2.ptw-cr01.plus.net (195.166.129.4)  12.102 ms
 6  linx-gw1.thn.ncuk.net (195.66.224.240)  11.802 ms
 7  te2-1-9.star10g.bdr-rt3.thdo.ncuk.net (80.249.97.17)  12.398 ms
 8  te1-1-1-31.core-rs2.thdo.ncuk.net (80.249.97.85)  14.849 ms
 9  pingbox1.thinkbroadband.com (80.249.99.164)  13.148 ms

and looks identical to one posted a long time ago.

Ive seen similar happen to me over the years. As with you there would be no resync or new PPP session.

Admittedly I don't seem to see it as often these days on 21CN and iirc Ive only seen one and that was for the better. It happened far more frequently on 20CN when BT change something on their core routing.   The worst I had was from 16ms to about 28ms (definitely not interleaved).   I dont know what they were playing at because I raised it to PN because it was such a large increase.  PN took it up with BT, who acknowledged it was routing, but to cut a long story short their response was basically "tough" as there is no SLI for latency and I had to put up with it for several weeks until they changed something again.

I'm not saying for certain that this is what has caused yours, just there is a possibility that its something to do with backhaul or core routing.
