DLM - 20 Days In.... No Retrain! :(
« on: August 20, 2015, 12:48:34 PM »

Afternoon,

Due to me being a bit of a daft sod changing hardware and doing a few re-syncs I lost 5-6mb of sync on the 30th July.

I'm rocking a new Billion 8800AXL and have been collecting stats, I thought give it 7-14 days and DLM will give over and retrain but nope.

Currently sat at (BT Infinity 2)

42061kbps (Was at 47,600kbps pre this)
23db Attr/6db SNRM
20days 13 hours without resync
393 DS Errors over the period...

Just wondering whether anyone has any insight on what could be the hold up?

Cheers
Matt

As far as I am aware if your downstream SNRM is 6db. You wont get a Retrain, as that is your final speed unfortunately. If you have high INP levels or interleaving. You can do a modem reset and hopefully you will have an improvement.

Hmmmm  :(

INP is 3
Interleaving is 823

So i'm best just restarting the router and hoping for the best?

Pretty much yes, do you have G.INP enabled or are you on an ECI cabinet?

A while ago  I finally back to fast path after the 3rd DLM imposition of interleaving in a year.  It is hard to say long long it actually took due to a holiday and 16 days powered off.  Upstream interleaving disappeared after 15, 22 or 38 days - take your choice - and downstream after a further 5 days.

Took 32 days before DLM finally woke up here, after I had some line work done.

Restarting the modem won't trigger DLM into reducing the interleaving level. What you need is a stable connection with low error rates (errored seconds in particular). As you seem to have those things, patience is the best option.

It is frustrating, but it sometimes just takes forever. From my experience.

Thought as much!

I'll just sit and wait... I really can't be bothered re-syncing the modem and risk resetting the DLM counter.

Are you on an ECI or Huawei cab?

So in effect from experience does G.INP mitigate the degradation from crosstalk?

Nearly 25 days in from my last sync and no re-train :(

Hmm.. so it looks like the PPP session got reset last night, but the underlying sync remained active?

Just checking that makes sense because the router admin page is showing the uptime for the PPP connection and not the sync...

HG612ModemStats is still reporting 26 days uptime and the error stats haven't been reset?
