I am sure if anyone had any news it would have been posted but it has been 3 weeks so I thought I would ask.  Does anyone have any new information on the ECI rollout of GINP/vectoring?  Do engineers now have appropriate diagnostics tools so the roll out can begin?

I am aware that Black Sheep has been provided with a new SIM for his JDSU HST-3000c but he is just one of a sizeable flock . . .

Is it a glitch or do we have a user (Zheez) on an ECI cabinet with G.INP enabled?

Edit: Must have been a glitch, as it's changed to a Huawei cab now

Glitch, he's missing all bit buckets below 48 which upsets the detection. I've changed it to Huawei...

Put it this way I believe hauwei will get vectoring before ECI has a chance of g.inp, based on what I have been told. ECI will almost certainly never get vectoring without openreach writing of that equipment.

I wonder if Openreach would consider changing ECI cabinets out and putting Hauwei cabinets in. They could 'upgrade' them when they are implementing G.fast.

It's obvious that they need to streamline the network better at some point as we're moving forward.

So we will have a two tiered network.  It will be interesting how BT can spin it considering a third of the network will be restricted due to no vectoring/possibly ginp.  I suspect this will stop BT advertising higher than 80/20 speeds at least with FTTC.

So we will have a two tiered network.

As i've said in the past there is already a two tiered network going on, those who are close to cabinet and those who are further away the 80/20 and 40/10 customers and when vectoring comes it's not going to do much for the longer line.

Sometimes you just have to take what's given to you  ;)

IMHO the easiest way to proceed would be to swap out the M41's with a V41.   They take the same space in the cabinet.  They use the same line cards and other equipment.   Ive no idea how much ECI would sell a bulk load of V41's to BT at, but it would be comparatively cheap if thats all thats needed.   Far cheaper than replacing with Huawei's, no need to buy new line cards, no need to lay new fibre.

A thought just occured - I wonder if the V41's can also fully support G.INP, its not something Ive checked.

I wonder if the best way forward is to move away from the cabs altogether, FTTRn has to be the way forward, FTTP would be nice but I cannot see it happening in the short to medium term, maybe in the long term when I will probably have shuffled off this mortal coil.

They could sell all the old cabs to Nigeria or somewhere, a bit like mobile phones.
