Hi all,
Are there any graphical user interface app's for monitoring line stats on OS X?? such as DSLStats ?

I have BT Infinity 2 and use a HG612 I can access the stats via terminal such as below but cant make much sense of them.

If anyone has time please give me a break down of my below stats info but ideally if anyone knows of any GUI apps for OS X and the HG612 that would be brilliant

I understand that the Windows version of DSLstats works well in MacOS using Wine. I'm afraid I have no knowledge of how to do this.

Just on holiday at the moment but I think I shall have a go at installing wine and using DSL Stats in that environment.

Thanks for the replies guys.... Guess I'm going to have to install Parallels on my MAC and try run it in that environment then, as I am guessing there is no port/alternative for DSLStats on OS X otherwise you would have suggested one.

Would anybody have time to give me a brief run down of my stats I posted please?

Error figures, estimated line distance, and if the stats look good enough to surpass 80/20 fiber service that I am currently getting if G.Fast/BT improves their product speeds/profiles? would I likely get 100Mbps?

My line has been sketchy lately hence the idea to run DSLStats, but I've had a lot of Openreach vans opening up my cabinet lately also, not sure if new installs or what. Still getting decent speeds but at times the service has been sporadically bad.

honestly Dray I haven't fully considered it, I have heard of the application before but never installed or used it. I have a copy of Parallels available and I was thinking of going with what I know, rather than installing a .pkg file and using a terminal based application I know nothing about.

I sound lazy don't I maybe at the weekend I will attempt to use Win after all

You could always buy a Raspberry Pi  and run DSLStats on that.

As for your stats,  you have attainable speeds above  80/20, which gives some headroom should cross talk affect you in the future,  it would also suggest your about 300 meters from your cab, but this is a very rough guess as so many things can affect you're speeds. I would also guess you'll be close enough to benefit from gfast when/if installed at the cabinet, but that will most likely be sold as a different product.

As for more detailed analysis of your stats someone else will have to advise on that.

Regards Wine I saw underzone's post and tried to wing it and use Wine for 5 minutes, didn't go well without reading up on it.

In the 5minutes I have installed Wineskin, that doesnt do much without an Engine or a Wrapper. I was guessing as it seems like more of a tool for Wine itself? tried to install WS9Wine1.9.15 seemed the most up to date? then it wanted a Wrapper installed? Then mono and gecko and all these things I dont know what they do. At the end of installing stuff I was hoping the .exe for DSLstats on my MAC would maybe associate itself with Wine or run standalone but it doesnt.

So much for trying to wing it  got work at 5am so ill have to have a play or read up another day about Wine itself. Unless anyone has some quick fire pointers.

heh, all I had left to do was put the Wrapper in the same folder as the .exe and it working by the looks of it 




Anyone know if there is a way to Force DSLstats to use the Ethernet connection thats attached to the Modem whilst I can continue to use the Wifi connection to my ASUS router for internet? OS X seems to route all internet traffic through what you have set as your priority order in Network Settings:



So when I want to use the Admin Panel for the HG612 connected via LAN2 directly to my MacBook I have to switch the priority order to Ethernet for my MacBook to reach the Modems admin panel and not my ASUS routers admin panel. If anyone understands what I mean.

What are the IP addresses of the modem and the router?

Just change the IP of the Asus to 192.168.1.2
under LAN - LAN IP
Having them both as 192.168.1.1 is going to cause problems
