As I said before a normal network cable has four pairs of wires, these four pairs can run up to 1Gbps as a single cable.

Now you can split these four pairs with the splitters so each link now only has two pairs, this can run at 100Mbps, and seeing as the modem only has 100Mbps ports this OK.

Presuming your 30m Ethernet cable has plugs each end you will need two splitters and four short patch cables, plug the splitters into either end of your 30m cable, plug the patch cables between the splitters and two ports on the router, the other end of the 30 meter cable plug into the osplitter and then  LAN 1 & LAN 2 on the modem.

Yes I mean Ethernet cables, a patch cable is what you'd use to connect from a wall socket to your equipment, or from patch panel to your equipment, it's just a short Ethernet cable, no different to your 30 meter one, just shorter.

splitter on each end of the 30m cable, at the modem end LAN1 and LAN2 go to splitter, at the other end the pairs used by LAN1 go to WAN on router, pairs used by LAN2 go to LAN port on router

0.3 metre - http://www.comms-express.com/categories/cat5e-rj45-patch-leads-cables/

These people supply even shorter cables, both 12cm and 25cm... Always use them for Ethernet stuff and the cables are snagless so the plastic locking clip doesn't break off eventually... They also come in 11 colours.

Well I tried my self with out success.

I changed the HG612 LAN IP to 192.168.1.150

My main LAN IP is 192.168.1.1 - 200

I think its down to the ethernet splitters it says you can only use one port at a time you cant use both it says that on everyone I've read.

Thanks for trying tho guys

Depends how the splitter is wired. It could be wired for all 4 pairs to either port (meaning only one port at a time, maximum speed 1gbps) or 2 pairs to each port (meaning both can be used at once, maximum speed 100mbps each port, and an identical splitter would be needed at the other end of the single cable.)

So I would need 3 splitters? Instead of 2?

They don't like playing nicely but in the description it does say only one port at a time Oh, Well, It only cost £2 :)

no just 2, but you need ones where 2 pairs are wired to each port (the same 2 pairs in each splitter, it sounds like you have 4 pairs wired to both ports, with the result that only one port can be used at any one time.
